Brauhaus Schmitz: A Sausage Fest for a Sausage Fest
I am no stranger to the unwise. I have been on a first name basis with Dumb before. But heretofore, I had never met Das Boot.
This was rectified at Brauhaus Schmitz, the German beer hall on South Street that has thankfully taken over Philly’s German helm since the sad demise of Ludwig’s Garten…..
German food isn’t sexy, unless the thought of liver dumplings and pig knuckles gets you all in a bother to go for a hot polka. So I guess it’s little wonder that Bavaria hasn’t yet inspired contemporary American chefs quite in the same way France, Italy, Spain, and Asia have.
Welcome to the official website of Brauhaus Schmitz, Philadelphia’s only authentic German Bierhall and Restaurant.
Located on historic South St, Brauhaus Schmitz is the perfect place to bring family and friends to enjoy an afternoon or evening in the City.
We specialize in all things German; food, service, music and of course beer. Brauhaus Schmitz features a selection of 20 draught beers as well as a carefully selected bottle list, with nearly 100 to choose from! We also offer a full selection of German Schnapps, wines, and spirits. The menu is sure to please with traditional German fare as well as a few interesting twists that will make anyone a fan of German cuisine. All of our food will be prepared using only the freshest of local ingredients by a competent and inspired kitchen staff.
Please visit this site often to keep track of events and specials, but most importantly feel free to stop in for a bite to eat or to enjoy a glass of the finest beer the world has to offer. Our atmosphere promises to leave everyone who visits us with a feeling of Gemütlichkeit.
Brauhaus Schmitz is open daily from 11:30 A.M. until 2:00A.M.
We accept reservations for parties of 5 for more.
